Return Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2025
This Return Policy explains which physical products purchased from KJK Shipping Containers LLC ("KJK," "we," "us," or "our") can be sent back, the condition they must be returned in, and how to start the process. This policy covers the physical return of a container itself. For information on how and when refund money is issued, see our Refund Policy.
1. Return Eligibility
Standard, unmodified new or used containers purchased directly from KJK may be returned if the unit has not yet been delivered, or has been delivered but remains in its original, unaltered condition at the original delivery site. Returns are subject to the restocking fee and freight terms described below.
2. Non-Returnable Items
The following are not eligible for return:
- Containers with completed custom modifications (cut openings, insulation, wiring, plumbing, paint, or similar work performed to your specifications)
- Completed or in-progress tiny home builds
- Containers that have been altered, painted, or modified by the customer or a third party after delivery
- Units returned more than 30 days after delivery
These orders are instead governed by the cancellation terms in our Refund Policy and your build contract, where applicable.
3. Return Window
Requests to return an eligible, unmodified container must be submitted within 30 days of delivery, or before dispatch if the unit has not yet shipped. Requests submitted after this window will be reviewed at our discretion and may not be eligible for return.
4. Required Condition
Returned containers must be in the same condition as delivered, consistent with normal handling — free of new modifications, additional damage, paint, debris, or contents left inside. Units returned in a materially different condition than delivered may be subject to a reduced refund reflecting the cost of restoring the unit to sellable condition.
5. How to Request a Return
To start a return, contact us at the email or phone number below with your order number, delivery address, and reason for return. We will confirm eligibility and provide a Return Authorization along with pickup scheduling instructions. Containers should not be moved from the original delivery site or prepared for pickup before a Return Authorization has been issued.
6. Return Freight & Pickup
Once a return is authorized, KJK will arrange pickup using the same tilt-bed or roll-back equipment used for delivery. Return freight costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the return is due to a KJK error, defect, or damage that occurred prior to delivery (see Section 9).
7. Restocking Fee
Eligible returns of standard containers are subject to a restocking fee to cover inspection, re-grading, and re-listing, deducted from your refund. The applicable fee will be confirmed at the time your Return Authorization is issued and will not exceed the amount disclosed to you before pickup.
8. Inspection Upon Return
All returned containers are inspected at our yard before a refund is processed. If the unit does not match the condition described at the time the return was authorized, we will contact you to discuss options, which may include a reduced refund or return of the unit to you at your cost.
9. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Units
If your container arrived damaged in transit, does not match its listed condition, or is the wrong size or type, this is treated as a delivery issue rather than a standard return — no restocking fee applies, and KJK covers return freight. Report these issues within 48 hours of delivery as described in our Shipping & Delivery policy.
10. Refunds for Returned Items
Once a returned container passes inspection, the applicable refund (less any restocking fee or return freight owed) is processed according to the timing described in our Refund Policy.
